Over the past years we have seen our village shops come and go but I do believe that, with the opening of the new Brancaster Stores, we have a shop in the village that is here to stay!  I visited it last week and although it had only recently opened it offered a superb choice of everything from everyday essentials including newspapers and magazines to delicious baked cakes, artisan breads, cheese and meat products.  It is part of the Gurneys group of shops and they have a history of providing quality produce and know their market well.   It is situated on the main coast road, behind the Village Hall.  They have clear signs on the road side.  It is a 10 minute walk heading east from Rosa Cottage.  It is also the village Post Office.  The store and deli are open every day from 9am until 4pm and the Post Office is open from Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm.  Please support our local store to ensure it’s success for years to come.  There is plenty of room to park too.

The facilities in our village are valuable and rely on our support so don’t forget we are also very fortunate to have a very good pub/restaurant/hotel in the village, The Ship Hotel.  It changed hands last year and is doing very well with a good choice on the menu and very friendly service.  Dogs are of course welcome too.

We have an excellent seasonal beach café and shop by the beach car park which is always very popular, again please support it, it is an easy walk from Rosa Cottage to the beach and is just under 1 mile away. It will re-open at Easter for the summer season.  Brancaster beach is a superb place to be all year round but wrap up warm in the winter.  Wander in a westerly direction for about 20 minutes until you come to the estuary, head inland and see the seals here, they occasionally play hard to find but you will usually see quite a few!
